QUAERERE DEUM
Flavia Carbonetti’s main source of inspiration for the ”Qaerere Deum” collection has been her pilgrimage to the Abbey Notre-Dame d'Orval, a Cistercian monastery founded in 1132 in the Gaume region of Belgium and located in the province of Luxembourg. The Legend says that Countess Matilde of Tuscany was a widow and her wedding ring had accidentally fallen into the fountain. She prayed to the Lord and at once a trout rose to the surface with the precious ring in its mouth. Matilde exclaimed: "Truly this place is a Val d’Or! " In gratitude, she decided to establish a monastery on the site. Combining the traditional religious gown with the Medieval monastery architecture, and following the Quaerere Deum approach, Flavia Carbonetti has created a collection that goes back to the essential using pure wool and cotton dyed with natural colors, imagining garments that are polished from the unnecessary excess. The result is a series of coats and double-breast jackets that reflect their essential purpose. |
