NOwHeRE
Flavia Carbonetti’s main source of inspiration for the "Nowhere" collection has been the discovery of what has become one of her favorite artists Filip Markiewicz, fascinated by his combination of various genres and mediums to reveal the violence of reality in the political and moral realm. In parallel to Markiewicz’s work, Flavia Carbonetti has reinterpreted the paintings of another contemporary artist, Matthew John Atkinson, which have as subject particular places that through time gradually lose purpose and identity, becoming strange remnant lands that slip from the daily conscious; concluding in (in-) visible blemished absences in our surroundings. They are ‘there’ but ‘nowhere’, subsisting. |
